Fatal I-75 Crash in Monroe County Claims Ohio Resident

Fatal I-75 Crash in Monroe County Claims Ohio Resident when a 47-year-old Toledo man’s Tesla veered off the highway in the early hours of Thursday. The incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on northbound Interstate 75 just north of the Exit 26/South Huron River Drive ramp in South Rockwood, Michigan. According to the Michigan State Police Monroe Post, multiple motorists dialed 911 after spotting a vehicle’s headlights abandoned in the grass beside the roadway.

Upon arrival, State Police troopers discovered a heavily damaged 2018 Tesla Model 3 angled into a tree off the right shoulder. The driver was found unresponsive and quickly transported to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital. Despite immediate medical attention, he was later pronounced dead. The victim, identified as a 47-year-old man from Toledo, had no visible indication of what caused his vehicle to leave the pavement, and the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

In the aftermath, the entrance ramp from South Huron River Drive and the right lane of northbound I-75 were closed for approximately three and a half hours, reopening around 9 a.m. Troopers are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that could assist the investigation to contact the Monroe Post at (734) 242-3500.
