Fatal Macomb County Crash Sparks Alleged Officer Bite
WARREN, Mich. – A fatal Macomb County crash has led to a 27-year-old woman being charged with a felony after she allegedly bit a Warren police officer who was assessing her for injuries. The incident occurred following a devastating collision between a Ford Escape and a Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection of Mound and Chicago roads on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Authorities reported that the initial response to the scene involved police arriving to find the Ford Escape empty. Witnesses at the scene directed officers to a woman standing on the sidewalk, identifying her as the driver of the vehicle and indicating that she appeared intoxicated. As an officer approached to check on her condition and assess for injuries, the woman, later identified as Diamond Leann Glenn, reportedly resisted the officer’s attempts to assist her and allegedly bit him.
The other driver involved in the crash, 69-year-old Christopher Andelean, was tragically killed due to injuries sustained during the crash. The fatal collision has left a community shaken and raised questions about accountability in road accidents involving intoxicated drivers.
Diamond Leann Glenn, a resident of Harrison Township, was taken into custody and charged with assaulting, resisting, and obstructing a police officer. As authorities continue their investigation, additional charges may be brought against her, depending on the findings of the ongoing inquiry. Her bond has been set at $100,000 in cash, and her probable cause hearing is scheduled for Jan. 2.
For victims of accidents like the one in Macomb County, seeking proper legal representation is crucial. In this case, the family of Christopher Andelean, who tragically lost his life, may be entitled to compensation for their loss. While no amount of money can ever replace a loved one, compensation can help address the financial strain caused by medical bills, funeral expenses, and loss of income.
There are several types of compensation at stake for victims of fatal accidents, including:
- Wrongful Death Compensation: This is available to surviving family members and can help cover funeral expenses, lost wages, and emotional distress caused by the loss of a loved one.
- Medical Bills and Funeral Expenses: Immediate financial support may be required to cover the medical expenses incurred before death, as well as funeral costs.
- Pain and Suffering: This compensation can address the emotional toll caused by the incident, especially for surviving family members who are coping with the grief of losing a loved one unexpectedly.
- Loss of Consortium: Spouses or close family members may be entitled to compensation for the loss of companionship and support due to the death of a loved one.
