Man Arrested After Allegedly Crashing Into Warren 7-Eleven

Man arrested after allegedly crashing into Warren 7-Eleven

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 11:45 PM, a harrowing incident unfolded at the 7-Eleven store located at 12 Mile and Schoenherr in Warren, Michigan. Brian Steele, a 46-year-old man, drove his truck into the front of the store, initiating a terrifying ordeal for both customers and employees. Armed with two knives, Steele threatened to kill those present, prompting employees to lock themselves in the back room until law enforcement arrived.

Upon arrival, officers found Steele covered in blood from self-inflicted wounds, still wielding the knives. Despite commands to drop the weapons, he reportedly shouted, “Kill me, kill me.” His girlfriend managed to escape the scene during this standoff. To de-escalate the situation, officers deployed a Taser, causing Steele to drop the knives and collapse. He was subsequently arrested and charged with assault with intent to rob while armed, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and malicious destruction of a building.

This incident has left the Warren community in shock. Alwi Alzokiry, a neighboring business owner, expressed disbelief, stating, “You know why I opened my business here? Because this area is safe and good.”
