Mid-Michigan man dies in crash near Lansing

Mid-Michigan man dies in crash near Lansing when a two-vehicle collision at a rural intersection claimed his life on Sunday afternoon. According to the Michigan State Police, the fatal wreck occurred around 12:00 p.m. at the junction of M-50 and Mulliken Road in Chester Township, Eaton County.

Troopers report that a 30-year-old Mulliken woman was traveling south on Mulliken Road in a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox and failed to stop at the posted stop sign. Her vehicle broadsided a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica driven northwest on M-50 by a 43-year-old Portland resident.

Both drivers escaped with minor injuries and were rushed to University of Michigan Health–Sparrow Hospital in Charlotte for treatment. Tragically, a 29-year-old Sunfield man riding in the Chrysler was ejected from the minivan during impact. He was transported to U-M Charlotte, where medical staff pronounced him dead.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim during this unimaginably difficult time. We understand the profound grief and shock that follows such a sudden loss.

When a loved one is killed in a motor vehicle collision, surviving family members may be entitled to several forms of compensation under Michigan law:

  • Wrongful Death Damages: Compensation for the loss of companionship, guidance, and the intangible benefits the decedent would have provided.

  • Loss of Financial Support: Reimbursement for the income and benefits the victim would have contributed to the household.

  • Funeral and Burial Expenses: Coverage of reasonable and necessary costs related to the funeral, burial, or cremation services.

  • Medical Bills: Recovery of any outstanding medical expenses incurred from the crash before death.

  • Pain and Suffering: In some cases, awards for the decedent’s pain and suffering prior to passing.
