Mt. Morris Woman Charged in Fatal Livonia Hit-and-Run

Mt. Morris woman charged in fatal Livonia hit-and-run, 55-year-old Tammy Sandoval is now facing serious criminal charges after allegedly striking a mother and her two young children, killing a 3-year-old boy and critically injuring his mother and sister before fleeing the scene.

The devastating incident occurred Sunday evening near the Livonia Spree festival, an area that had drawn large crowds throughout the day. As families began to leave the event, Tia Robinson of Detroit was walking across Merriman Road with her twin children, Khalil and Khloe. Tragically, all three were hit by a vehicle that did not stop. Khalil, just 3 years old, died from his injuries. His mother and sister were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Authorities launched an immediate investigation into the hit-and-run, which led to the arrest of Tammy Sandoval. Prosecutors have charged her with multiple serious offenses, including operating a vehicle with a suspended, revoked, or denied license — causing death; two counts of the same offense — causing serious injury; and three counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, including one charge connected to the fatality and two others tied to the serious injuries sustained by Robinson and her daughter.

Sandoval was arraigned on Thursday, where she was given a bond set at $600,000. She is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause conference on July 10, with a preliminary examination slated for July 17.
