One Dead Two Injured in M-50 Head-On Near Monroe

One Dead Two Injured in M-50 Head-On Near Monroe occurred Tuesday afternoon when a 2015 Ford Focus veered across the centerline into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision that proved fatal for the Focus driver and left two passengers in another vehicle seriously hurt. At approximately 2:48 p.m. on May 13, 2025, the Ford, traveling eastbound on South Custer Road (M-50) east of Strasburg Road in Raisinville Township, unexpectedly crossed the westbound lane and struck a 2024 Toyota Sienna head-on.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Hunter Alexander Boyd of Tecumseh, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota’s driver, 50-year-old Norma Jean Hacker of Brooklyn, and her front-seat passenger, 25-year-old Gwenyth Kamerielle Ebbert, also of Brooklyn, sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to Toledo ProMedica Hospital. Hacker remains in serious condition, while Ebbert is currently listed in critical condition. First responders from Monroe Township Fire Department, Ida Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and Monroe County Sheriff’s Chaplain and Victim Services units all assisted at the crash site.

As investigations by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division continue, the families of the victims face complex legal and financial challenges. In fatal crashes like this, surviving family members may pursue wrongful-death claims, which can include compensation for funeral and burial expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional pain and suffering caused by the unexpected death. For the injured parties, potential compensation encompasses medical bills (including emergency transport and ongoing rehabilitation), lost wages from time away from work, future loss of earning capacity if disabilities persist, and non-economic damages such as pain, suffering, and diminished quality of life.
