Pedestrian Critically Injured in Warren Hit-and-Run

A pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Warren on Monday night, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities. According to the Warren Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. near Dequindre Road and Common Road. Emergency responders transported the 32-year-old victim to Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, where he remains in critical condition.

Preliminary findings reveal that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Dequindre Road but was not within a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. He was first struck in the northbound lanes by a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The driver of that vehicle stopped immediately and has been fully cooperative with law enforcement officers. Tragically, a second vehicle, traveling southbound, also struck the victim shortly after the initial collision. That second driver fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid.

This case is being treated as a serious hit-and-run investigation, with Warren police urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward. Detective Accivatti is leading the case and can be reached at 586-574-4859.

What Kind of Compensation Could Be at Stake?

Victims of pedestrian accidents—especially those involving multiple vehicles and hit-and-run drivers—may be entitled to a range of compensation. When a pedestrian suffers life-threatening or catastrophic injuries, as in this case, the financial toll can be immense. Compensation may cover medical expenses, future treatment costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and loss of quality of life. In hit-and-run situations, victims may also be eligible to pursue compensation through their own uninsured motorist coverage if the fleeing driver is never identified.

If the injuries lead to permanent disability, the victim could also claim long-term care support, vocational rehabilitation, and even compensation for emotional trauma and loss of enjoyment of life. Family members may also be able to recover damages for loss of companionship or emotional distress in cases of wrongful death.
