Tragic 3-Car Collision Claims Life of Oakland County Woman
A tragic 3-car collision occurred last week in Wixom, Michigan, claiming the life of a Novi woman after a chain-reaction crash. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident took place on South Wixom Road at Sams Way, near Grand River Avenue, at approximately 10:14 a.m. last Thursday.
The unfortunate event unfolded when the 59-year-old Novi resident, who was driving a Honda CR-V, was stopped in traffic. A 94-year-old Milford Township man, driving a Nissan Versa, failed to stop and crashed into the back of the Honda CR-V with significant force. The impact caused a secondary collision, pushing the Honda into a 2022 Ford F350 that was being operated by a 60-year-old resident of Wolverine Lake.
After the initial collision, the Novi woman exited her Honda and stood beside the driver’s door, likely attempting to assess the situation. In an inexplicable turn of events, the elderly driver of the Nissan Versa suddenly accelerated forward once again, hitting the Novi woman and trapping her beneath the vehicle. The car stopped only a short distance from the initial point of impact, leaving the woman critically injured.
Emergency responders rushed her to Ascension Providence Park Hospital in Novi, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. The 94-year-old driver of the Nissan and the 60-year-old driver of the Ford F350 were unharmed in the crash. Authorities have stated that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be factors in the incident, and there is no indication that the elderly driver intentionally struck the woman. Both drivers are fully cooperating with investigators, and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to look into the cause of the collision.
