Troy Resident Arrested for DUI After Plowing Through Backyards

TROY, MI — A Troy resident was arrested for DUI after driving through several backyards in a local neighborhood earlier this month, causing significant damage, according to police reports.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. on June 4, when a homeowner reported that the driver used their driveway to access the backyard of a home on the 1500 block of Hamlet Drive. The driver then proceeded to drive through multiple backyards, wreaking havoc on lawns, uprooting a tree, and damaging an underground pipe.

Shortly afterward, officers located the vehicle parked back on the roadway. The 63-year-old driver was found standing next to it. Upon approaching the driver, officers observed clear signs of intoxication. The Troy man failed several field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

Following these findings, the man was arrested and transported to the Troy Jail. He faces multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated (third offense) and driving with a suspended, revoked, or denied license (second offense). Police have not released the man’s name at this time.
