19-Year-Old on Stolen Dirt Bike Killed in Taylor Accident
In a tragic incident on August 26th, 2024, Martin Reyes, a 19-year-old, lost his life after a collision with a truck while running a red light on a stolen dirt bike in Taylor, Michigan. The accident occurred at 7:48 p.m. at the intersection of South Telegraph Road and I-94.
According to officials, Reyes was riding a dirt bike that had been reported stolen from Shelby Township. As he traveled southbound on Telegraph Road, he ignored a solid red traffic light and entered the intersection. Unfortunately, his dirt bike was struck by a Ford Edge, leading to a catastrophic outcome.
Eyewitnesses and the driver of the Ford Edge, who stayed at the scene, immediately tried to provide aid to Reyes until the Taylor Fire Department arrived. Despite their efforts, Reyes was transported to Corewell Health Hospital in Dearborn, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford Edge is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. At this point, there is no indication that speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the accident.
