13-Year-Old Michigan Girl Crashes Mother’s Car Into Family Home
A startling incident unfolded this week when a 13-year-old Michigan girl crashed her mother’s car into a family home in Ingham County. The crash occurred after the young girl reportedly took her mother’s vehicle without permission and drove it through a residential area in Delhi Charter Township.
According to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday to a home in the 400 block of Rexford Avenue. Witnesses reported that a vehicle collided with the front of a single-family residence before fleeing. Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured during the crash.
Shortly after, authorities located the damaged vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 13-year-old girl had been behind the wheel at the time of the accident. She was accompanied by three other minors, raising concerns about both safety and supervision.
Officials noted that the property suffered significant structural damage, including a compromised front wall and foundation concerns that may require extensive repairs. At this point, it remains unclear how the young driver obtained access to the vehicle or how far she had driven before the crash occurred.
Compensation for Victims of Property Damage
While the lack of injuries is a relief, the homeowners are now left facing costly repairs through no fault of their own. When a vehicle crashes into a home—even unintentionally—victims may be entitled to various forms of compensation. This can include property damage repairs, temporary housing costs, emotional distress, and in some cases, medical evaluations for potential trauma.
Insurance claims involving minors and unauthorized use of vehicles can quickly become complex. That’s where having a dedicated legal team becomes essential.
