10-Year-Old Critically Injured in Waterford Township Crash

10-Year-Old Critically Injured in Waterford Township Crash. Four people were hurt when two vehicles collided Wednesday evening in Oakland County, Michigan. According to the Waterford Township Police Department, the accident unfolded around 6 p.m. at the busy intersection of Highland Road and Cass Lake Road.

Our preliminary review indicates a 19-year-old Waterford resident was traveling southbound in a Ford Escape on Cass Lake Road when a silver Jaguar X-Type, heading northbound, attempted to turn west onto Highland Road against a red signal. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, triggering an immediate emergency response from Waterford Regional Fire and local first responders.

The driver of the Jaguar suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. In the Ford Escape, the young motorist and two adult passengers also sustained injuries: the 22-year-old front-seat passenger and the vehicle’s driver were both admitted with moderate trauma. In contrast, a 14-year-old rear-seat occupant sustained minor injuries and was released after treatment. Tragically, the other rear-seat passenger—a 10-year-old child—suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as firefighters and paramedics worked swiftly to extricate and stabilize the occupants. Traffic in the area was diverted for several hours while police conducted their on-scene investigation, documenting skid marks, vehicle positions, and traffic signal timings.
